1 Peter 2:4-10 — The identity of God’s elect as living stones built together into a spiritual house and a nation of priests called to offer acceptable sacrifices of obedience and praise sustains us in trial and motivates us to serve others.

Under Nehemiah, Isreal is lead into renewal, revival, and reform. As God moves among his people, they dwell securely in his faithfulness!

The book of Deuteronomy serves as a reminder to God’s people of his steadfast love and devotion, and a call for that devotion to be met with praise, worship, and faithful obedience.

Numbers retells perhaps the most tragic portion of Israel’s story. It shines a light on the hard-hearted and stubborn unfaithfulness of this discontented people, while showing God’s gracious desire for a heart-felt relationship.

Exodus is an exciting story of Israel’s deliverance from captivity and cruel oppression. But the story is not simply about Israel, or even Moses – God’s faithfulness and sovereignty, and especially his glory, are the central actors in this epic narrative.

1 Timothy 6:11-21 As the Apostle Paul concludes his first letter to Timothy, he reminds him of the major themes of the letter – godliness, gospel-clarity, concern for salvation – and how they must be carried out in endurance, perseverance, and commitment. From these verse, we discover four defining characteristics of a godly commitment to the gospel.

Psalm 44 Psalm 44 helps us orient our response to tragedy and uncertainty in a Godward direction. When faced with trial and honest frustration, how do we avoid the hope-blindness of distrust in God’s covenant faithfulness? By reminding ourselves of the inseparable love of God toward us in Christ Jesus his Son.
