Jeremiah 13 – God gives Jeremiah an object lesson on how Judah’s corruption has rendered it unfit to be God’s people. Their pride has caused their downfall, and now God will humble them. Worst of all, they are unable to change this about themselves. So Judah only hope is God’s grace and mercy – unmerited favor and kindness. This they will have if they repent and return to the Lord with their hearts. Like Judah, we too are marred and broken by the sinfulness of our own hearts. Therefore, we act contrary to purpose of our Creator, and do not walk in unity with him or in conformity to his law.
